Airport

Burning Words

Every 2 minutes she turns her head in hopes that she isn’t alone for much longer. She looks left, and then right, and then left again to be a hundred percent sure she didn’t miss anything. She sits there wanting so badly to have someone with her, someone holding her hand down the runway. She did what she thought was best for herself, basing this on her past poor judgments. She gets in the elevator with her suitcase. She waits in the lobby area. She gives the ticket to the attendant. She puts her case in the overhead bin. She sits down, puts her headphones in, looks for any song that won’t make her show any real emotion to these strangers that surround her, she relies on Elvis Presley and Billy Joel to drown out her inner screams.

“What have I done?” she thinks. Based on how movies and tv shows have trained our minds, I bet you expected the dashing man to stop her before she got on that plane. I bet you expected him to run to her saying that he loves her and that he’s never going to let her go again…but he was too late. He was too late because he never started running. Life isn’t like a movie. Life isn’t like a tv show. Sometimes giving up is a part of life, but let me tell you something. Things that don’t last was never meant to be, and little does this airport woman know that there are amazing adventures awaiting her when she steps off that plane.
